“The angels in heaven speak Italian”, says the protagonist in one of Thomas Mann’s novels. Who knows? What is certain is that the number of people who need or would like to learn Italian is growing. This website is a comprehensive and organised channel for teaching our language abroad and, more generally, to foreigners, and is dedicated to them. Anyone who wants to study Italian will find information, addresses, news, and insights on this site.
Developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation), the website of the Italian Language works in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Italian State Bureau of Printing and the Mint. The selection of the main documents, articles and study on the teaching of the Italian language is made with the contribution of the linguistic Scientific Societies: AItLA (Associazione Italiana di Linguistica Applicata); ASLI (Associazione per la Storia della Lingua Italiana); DILLE (Società di Didattica delle Lingue e Linguistica Educativa); SIG (Società Italiana di Glottologia); SLI (Società di Linguistica Italiana); SIFR (Società Italiana di Filologia Romanza).
